Algebra Math T2

Task Description: Today on the 7th of June decided to try to  solve  a algebra equation. It was really confusing when Mr Raj was explaining it because of the letters replaced with numbers. But  over time with more equation solving together it got much easier to the point we could solve a problem by ourselves. Have you solved an algebra equitation?

Writing T2

Task description: Team tui learnt how to argue what’s right and wrong. We had to choose one topic to  write about. For me I chose to debate about why phones should be allowed in school.

Why should phones NOT BE BANNED in school

Illustrated Spencer

The government has recently announced that school students will be forbidden to use their phones in school grounds and during school hours. Many people have disagreed with the government’s actions to forbid the use of phones in school. People have been angered with the government’s choices because in this modern day it is considered as an essential tool

People have had mixed opinions. Some people might argue that phones should not be allowed because it is bound to lead to distraction. Because of the ability to communicate, it also has limitless knowledge. People have been debating back and forth, but I am here to argue why phones should be allowed in school.

Phones should be allowed in school because in case of a medical or a school shooting they can easily contact their guardian. It also makes it easier for the school staff so they don’t have to contact students’ parents. It just makes their job easier instead of contacting all their guardians they can call themselves. Smartphones have the potential to contact anyone in the world no matter the distance

I know phones can be a distraction and misuse at school but there’s an easy fix to prevent that from happening. There should be a scheduled time when you are allowed to use your phones. It also prevents the students from cheating so instead of completely banning phones you can confiscate when it is learning time

You might be wondering what about cyber bullying ? Well there’s a solution to that problem. There’s something named Vpn which stands for Virtual Private Network. If you are connected to the internet, they can decide what apps you can go on and not go on. Such as Social Media eg: Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and much more.

You might hear from other people that being on your phone is a health hazard because of addiction and much more. But really it comes with its qualities. I have gone through my own research and it says on multiple sites that people who play games on Phones, Consoles, and Laptops have above average reflexes. Website, Website.

In conclusion, that is why Smartphones should be used in school. Because of its productivity. What do you think of the use of smartphones?

Maori Teina Tournament Rugby league

On April 21st I participated in the Maori Rugby league tournament. My team was practising for months to prepare us for the big tournament ahead. The training was so tiring and exhausted because of fitness running up and down constantly for 2 hours. We also practice our haka to respect our opponents for each game. The day we went down to rotorua was exciting and fun. We got to choose our own hotel rooms to stay. Then slept and woke up ready to destroy teams on the field. The first games went very smooth thrashing all our opponents by a huge margin. The next day we were all nervous for our quarter finals against kotahitanga because they were the previous champions for 2023. Kick off started and everyone was hungry to win. It was tough game but we just won. Onto the semifinals against Australia our confidence was still high but with a few of our players missing swe ended up having a disappointing loss. After the finals we had a prize giving and a chance to be selected into the New Zealand Maori team. Our chances were thin because of the large numbers teams with an outrageous number of 42. As soon as I heard my name called I got up with pride but it was the most nervous moment of my life.

Team Tui Pal’s

Room 11 had the opportunity to be taught games by Ms Dimond. It was to help with our physical education and our work in collaboration and communication. It was to show how well our class worked as a team. We played 2 games making it harder each round. The rule was to gather as many tags as you can from the other team. Every time the court shrinked into a little area to make it more difficult. To learn about eye coordination and to learn how to be aware of your surroundings. The second game was Bench ball the objective in this was to throw the ball to the outline of the court. It was very difficult because you needed to control your strength and aim with accuracy. Overall I think it was a fun experience because it was new to me. What was a game you would like to participate in?
