Opinion Writing
Task Description: This weeks task for reading was to give our opinion on how we are affecting our ocean.
Saving our oceans – How are we harming the ocean and what can we do to change it?
How can we sustain the health of our oceans? |
||
W.A.L.T – Synthesise information from different texts to form an opinion
Think about all of the texts you have read and list three ways humans are damaging our oceans.Think about what we could do to change this. Write your ideas in lots of detail |
||
Humans are harming the ocean by…. | We could change this by….
Commercial fishing/Fishing | Picking up rubbish
Sport activities | Reusing plastic
Oil | ||
Task: What do you think we should do to improve the health of our oceans? |
I think that we should start reusing plastic to save it going into the ocean.
My first reason for thinking this is because 50% – 80% oxygen comes from the ocean and without our ocean we would have water.
My second reason is sea creatures are another source of our food.
My last reason is they have a part in climate change and the greenhouse effect.
In conclusion I think it best to ban plastic so animals can live a better life.
Zoo Debate
Task description: This week was to write persuasive writing and to read a book called zoo debate and other articles.
Should we have zoos?
Today’s Zoos are very different from before. They are now more animals and no longer live in cages. In my opinion I think zoos should be banned because they are destroying animals’ circle of life and they have to hurt the animals so they can stay in their enclosures. They cut flamingos wings so they cannot escape their enclosures. The main reason why I think zoos are bad is that if they get released into the wild they will not know what to do because they are relying on zookeepers. Another reason is you can learn much on YouTube or any other social media. You can find facts or learn something about animals in newspapers, articles and google. In conclusion that is why I am against zoos and they should release the animals into the wild.
LCS
Task Description: This week for LCS we learnt about rockets and spaceships. Today I found out they mix fuel with air to make the rocket from underneath. Do you know anything about rockets or spaceships?
Spaceships
By Jeanne Biddulph
How do spaceships get into the sky? They use powerful rockets to lift them into the sky.Spaceships have powerful rockets to lift them off the ground into the sky. The rocket motors help spaceships escape from the earth’s gravity. The rocket motors also help spaceships overcome the resistance of air as they leave earth.Spacecraft need special heat shields to stop them melting when they plunge back through the air ( atmosphere ) around the earth. The spacecraft gets very hot as it forces its way through the air at high speed. When they get close to the ground, spacecraft need parachutes to slow them down for a “soft” landing. The United States has built space shuttles that have stubby “wings” and can glide back to earth by themselves. Space shuttles are covered in special ceramic tiles to protect them when they plunge back through the atmosphere around the earth.
